Thought I would jump in on this thread since I actually started my server over a year ago just to provide a place where friends and I could play CTF maps with 1/2 respawn times. No other mods except those for administrative purposes. (As previously stated, we found CTF and PLR play just at half respawn time. Better, actually, when you only have 10-15 players in game.)
As a result I've never taken advantage of Quickplay traffic. The respawn times tags are set and it clearly states 1/2 respawn and fastrespawn in the browser. I did register the server so could get gift drops and the like. Still, we built up a nice community of regulars. Including some who donated to help cover hosting. This past summer we were full almost non-stop. Things tapered off in the fall with spikes during halloween, thanksgiving, and the christmas event. Very quiet in the new year. Just based on what I see in my friends list (amazing how large that gets when you admin a server) there are simply fewer people playing TF2. Do those of you running Quickplay servers see a significant difference in traffic over non-quickplay ones? I don't have any reason to change, since making my server "quickplay elligible" with full respawns would make it no different from hundreds of others out there. But I am curious.
