Related to this, we will have a steamcmd update soon that will include a 
steamcmd.sh, so you will no longer have to do the STEAMEXE dance. But for now, 
do as Nicholas suggests.

You don't need to symlink anything, just set the STEAMEXE variable when 
launching.

ex.
STEAMEXE=steamcmd ./steam.sh
