You will need to upgrade to GLIBC 2.11, this was a case of providing the greatest good. To use GCC 4.6 (and beyond) we needed to bump the min GLIBC up to 2.11, so you will need to update your OS/find a new distro. GLIBC 2.11 is over 3 years old now so hopefully your provider of choice can update by now.
