I think he means the banner motd stats that appear first when the campaign starts after people join to a server. It sometimes shows rank 0 and no score rather than displaying the score and rank itself.

I don't know, it's really hard to say "why" your server is empty other
than: there are a lot of servers and if you've just put your server up then
you have to actually build a community to play there.

Putting people in your MOTD might help, or people might join, see this is a
server that has rankings (and a few people are already laughably far ahead
of others) and decide they don't to sit here.

I don't think this is an issue at all - this is just a general "How do I
get my server popular?" type of question. Which isn't bad but... I think we
all grapple with this question at one time or another.

I have noticed one thing, on the MOTD the server shows no rank or players
served on it. Could this be why?

Gordon probably nailed it.

As a player, I always exclude full and empty servers from my browser.
Don't
care about full ones, and I'm not spending my precious time seeding
someone
else's server.

Not fully sure, Unless its because its a starting out server.

It is showing on the master server lists correctly.

Is this a bug, or do people just not want to join an empty server?

Most people probably click "Server not full" and "Has users playing".

Hi,
I have this problem / bug with a L4D2 server which I am really
wanting
to
sort out.

Now I'm not sure if this is a problem or bug but here is what
happens:
I can play on the server fine, I connect to it by typing connect
l4d.ryanteck.org.uk (The Domain). The client connects fine and the
server
starts playing.

Within about 5 Minutes all of the other slots fill up almost
instantly
with
other players.

My question is without me starting the game by connecting to it how
can I
get it so people connect? I don't mind paying out for the VPS it
runs
on
but if it requires me to login each time I will just switch it to
TF2
if
possible (Which is looking nice due to the fact I use Ubuntu 99% of
the
time and steam for linux still does not surprisingly support L4D2).
