glibc 2.11 has been released in November 2009. glibc 2.12.1 dates back
to August 2010. Conversely, glibc 2.15 is with us since March 2012.

I understand that dancing on the bleeding edge is a dangerous game,
especially if your business depends on it, so it makes sense that
enterprise-grade distributions don't ever provide the newest glibc.
However, three years is a long time in the computing world. It's
unfortunate that so many distributions seem to confuse being
conservative with being flat-out stuck in the past.

(I'm not blaming any hosting providers -- you're stuck between Scylla
and Charybdis on this one.)
