Am currently developing an app in Hobo 0.8 and did a Hobo 0.6.2 app previously. The strategy I have used is to just start with a version that is fairly solid and freeze it there. Making any fixes or enhances needed to complete the project.
The 0.6.2 project is in live production and working very well. The point I am trying to make is that you may want to stay away from the edge and just fixate on a version that works well with the current tutorial. Hobo is still at a less than 1.0 version so I would expect to continue seeing changes that will break a lot of existing stuff. The 0.8 version (which is not the latest) that I am using works fairly good if you are just wanting to run through a tutorial or start a new app. I would be happy to zip it up and mail it to you.
