Since Hobo_fan sent me a separate email, I figured I'd post the how to on removing the transition here in case it can help anyone else out.
Transitions are housed in the model. So to remove the signup transition, you'd go under the user model and in the lifecycle declaration there will be a group that starts like: create :signup, :available_to ... Removing that whole block of related to create, removes the transition that creates a new user. At the same time, the controller won't create the signup and do_signup actions.
