The cookbook (http://github.com/tablatom/hobocookbook) should be considered one such app, and a live one at that. Anybody and everybody is welcome to add features and/or content to it. It's a good example for a "real-world" application. Those of you who are getting closer to deployment can check out how the cookbook does caching, and its Vlad the Deployer recipes, for example.
