Actually LibreOffice (a fork of OOo) has replaced Open Office as the preferred Open Document office suit, which most major Linux distros now ship with.
http://www.libreoffice.org/ I tried to open the *.docx file with LibreOffice in my Linux distro and it just hangs. I would be willing to help produce an *.odt version of the document if I can get it to load/save in LibreOffice. MS's .odt converter has been known to have problems, and not conform completely to the official Open Documents standard. Producing an .odt version will allow more people to read/edit the document who don't own/have MS Word, or prefer not to use it and store documents in their formats.
