~~~ hi joyce i burn those to a CD every now and then ... same with the digital photos. and ... they are relativly safe as i am a believer in partitioning. confining the C: drive to 6Gig ... and other partitions from 6 to 12 GB. i install nothing on the C; drive that doesn't require it ... and use another partition for the apps ... also have separate partitions for music and graphic data. so ... although i have had to reformat my C: drive on a few occasions ... and reinstall apps ... it never affects my data partitions. this also makes maintenance easy ... i refrag the C: drive every few daze ... and it only takes a couple of minutes. no need to do the data partitions as they don't even become fragmented ... unless i delete progs/data. and anyway ... they don't need to be accessed quickly ... like the C: and OS. do i don't have to spend hours defragging 30 gigs. ;) and i image the C: drive to a backup partition as well. so ... the only time i have EVER lost data ... is through my own screwups ... while backing them up!!!! whod'a thunk it? ;) everything else made it just fine ... only the stuff i really, really wanted to protect was lost. all my hours of writing. would be like burning all my letters/books. still got a tear in my eye over some of it. ;) i had the snapping turtle story partialy done ... and a god owl encounter as well. ah well ... i was stuck with them anyway ... writer's block. so who knowz ... maybe this time they will flow better. no time like the present. > > Wishing you equanimity through this adventure of yours. > > love and peace and metta to all holy geeks and their hardware, > joyce ~~~ thanks. right back at ya. -ts- ------------------------ Yahoo!
