Well, there are three possible zones involved:

1) the reverse zone.
2) an ISP specific forward one.
3) a zone the home user provides.

(1) and (2) are *ISP* specific, so I think that actually one does need
to say ISP, and not DSP.

The only one specific to an ISP is 1) since *.mikeshouse.homedns.google.com is
just as valid as *.mikeshouse.homedns.comcast.net.

(3) is, I agree, not specific to an ISP.

I agree.
I found the whole "people like to turn off their CER" weird.
But, that's because sandleman.ca lives at my home, and when I'm
travelling is exactly when I don't want my CER off.... but I accept
that I'm an IETF-type geek, and this protocol isn't about me.

One of the advantages of the unlisted authoritative server which is a master
to the authoritative ones in the cloud is that it doesn't much matter whether
the CER is 24/7 that I'm aware of. The slaves will not stop serving the zone
if I go off to Africa for a month vacation with my CER off afaik.

But I think that turning the CER off for non-geeks will be a lot more common
in the future if we have all kinds of "servers" in the home like cams, lighting,
jukeboxen, etc, etc.
