As I don't currently play with a group I can't say what my favorite "after concert" choice is. I would like to relate my introduction to this principal though. In my second year of college in Syracuse, NY, Hermann Baumann was playing Strauss 2 with the Rochester Phil. [2+hours drive.] I went with my current teacher in a driving rain, met my former teacher and another Syracuse hornist at the hall, enjoyed a spectacular performance, and immediately after the show repaired to a tiny bar around the corner where the beer was served in jelly jars. We of course dissected the concert among other things. We then drove home in the still pouring rain to finish out the week. I completley wnjoyed the experience, but have remained struck with the fact of going out to have a beer even though we had a long drive near to midnight in a cold November rain. Paxmaha
