I would like to assure everyone that the McCracken 8 valve single did exist, I saw one on Ebay. Each key was split into a "Y" shape with the 2 prongs going to a regular sized valves. There they attached in the regular string fashion. This was pretty simple, but caused the valve slides to be far apart and not the regular size or shape, I think he braced between the sides using trumpet pull rings. Being a "one or two off" it didn't appear he had special internal valves designed for this and I don't really remember how he did the external valve case.
