Even some things that are seen as innate, a "good ear" for instance, may have 
been taught at an early age.  I recall hearing about a study that found that 
speakers of Chinese (I think it was one of the particular dialects) had a 
higher likelihood of having perfect pitch.  The researchers theorized that 
since the spoken language relies in part on pitch to impart meaning, that 
resulted in greater awareness of pitch from age zero.
