I respectfully beg to differ - there is (or at least should be) an enormous
difference in sense of impetus between a steady stream of notes and, for
example, Rnnn|Rnnn|etc. (R=rest, n=note)

Some of the best advice proffered, IMHO, is to think of the notes leading
>toward< the next downbeat. (I find a small sense of crescendo - not really
audible, but keeping the air energized - is a big help.)
