I have seen one Schmidt for sale that had a Pull Piston , the thumb trigger 
 was attached to the bottom of the  piston casing with a rod through to the 
 piston that pulled it down the thumb trigger was at the same position as 
for a  rotor valve.

string through  it to the piston to come out the bottom.  Then you can 
arrange to  pull the piston down instead of push it down, and your thumb
