To my knowledge, the Barcelona Liceu Opera has never produced a recording of its Ring productions aside from the regular radio broadcasts. Although the symphony orchestra and the opera orchestra are two completely independent entities and we rarely have much contact with our colleagues across town at the opera, I happen to be collaborating with them at the moment, precisely because they are in the middle of a Ring cycle. I had accepted the invitation as a guest principal figuring I would just do offstage calls as I have done in the past with them, but since one of their principals is choosing to play tuba rather than horn, I have ended up playing first horn in the pit, without an assistant - as is common in the opera orchestras in this neck of the woods. Not something I really needed on top of my regular performing schedule. I have seen no indication that they are planning to record these performances for other than live broadcast use. David B.
