The most extreme example that I know of where this happens is the
Berlioz Symphony Fantastique, where if I recall correctly at one point
all four horns are playing at the same time and each is crooked in a
different key.

There's a quartet by Gallay like this too!

I'd say, get a set of Brahms symphonies on CD and scores, and go through them (at least the juiciest bits) singing the parts as you go (with fingering).
You'll get used to it.
