I'll second Ajas and Aaron. I love BeyondCompare. Of course, we all have our
preferences, and I won't say I've done an extensive comparison, if you'll
pardon the pun. :-) But I love it and use it all the time. It compares file,
directories, and can even compare info from the clipboard. It really is very
powerful, and has more features than even regular users of the tool will
realize.

It isn't free, but it is inexpensive. What I really like (in recommending
it) is that the trial is not just "x days" from installation but instead "x
days of use". Plenty of time to decide if you like it, so I would highly
recommend trying it out even if others seem equally or more compelling.

Thanks for mentioning the CF411 list with other alternatives, too, James.
Glad you saw that.

If you have money to buy, I would recommend beyond compare by

This tool is a beauty... I simply love it. You can download and try it
before you buy. You wont regret. Its cheap, about 30-50 bucks.

If money is issue, then open source winmerge would be an option.

We cannot become what we need to be, remaining what we are.
No matter what, find a way. Because thats what winners do.
You can't improve what you don't measure.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention,
sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents
the wise choice of many alternatives.

Greetings,

Anyone got a recommendation for a file comparison tool? Preferably FOSS. I
know Charlie Arehart has several listed on his cf411.com site. Any of them
have better features than others?

Thanks.
