Recently a fellow Nikon photog. asked some questions
about my DJ-130 experiences. The response, I realized,
is a pretty good quick summary of my 10 months running
this fine machine. Perhaps useful to others. So here it is:

> machines, what SURPRISES am I likely to have?

In my experience: premature printhead failures.
I keep a full set of replacement printheads on
hand. There's been a recent thread on HPDesignJet_Printers
at Yahoo groups about air in the feed lines being
a possible cause of this.

> What's the deal with the "paper dent" issue that I
> have seen cropping up on the forum?

I do all my paper feeding manually from the front.
The only paper marking problem I have had is with
one of my 3 or 4 machines -- I forget exactly, there
was a period where they sent me replacements once
every couple of weeks -- leaving pizza roller trails
on the Premium Photo Satin that I run.

> Any problems running canvas through the machine?

I've only run Premium Photo Satin.

> What other papers do you use?

None.

> Could you give me a very approx cost per square
> foot for running canvas and Satin?

Approx $1.25 to $2.25 per square foot on Photo Satin.
Lower part of that range when printing on sheets cut
from a roll, upper part when printing on HP packaged
18x24 sheets.

> Whats the max image printing size?

I've printed 24" x 44" with no problem from Qimage.
Haven't tried anything larger.

>
> What RIP do you use?

None. I use Qimage to print. My master image is an
Adobe Photoshop document in AdobeRGB color space. For
printing, I make the relevant crop, convert to sRGB,
and save that product as a level-12 (pixel-perfect)
JPG. That's what Qimage uses.

> Print heads seem to be an issue too. How many do
> you get through?o

I've gone thru 6 while printing approx. 2500 sq. ft.
Adds under a dime per sq. ft. in cost. I can live with the
issue.

Dunno. I use a 10-footer with no problems.

Happy to help. Great printer, with quirks. Results are
lovely. Customers very happy.
