I've been researching using the HP130 to print posters and here's my problem. I've spent several months researching and getting different answers as to whether I can take a 1024x720 jpg at 72 dpi and print it out on the HP at 24x36. I've been told that I needed to have 300 dpi which would mean that the camera would have to be a 77MP camera. One pro photographer says that 180 dpi would be the minimum which would mean a 27MP camera. I know not everyone has or can afford such a camera. I've also looked into various softwares (like photozoompro) that can uprez a photo but I'm not so sure that will work well enough to sell the posters to customers.
The photos I'm using are non-copyrighted from the internet. I've also heard that I could print the photo out and rescan it higher or print out as 2 transparencies put together (for higher color depth) and then scanned at 300 dpi in order to print out a better poster. I'm trying to figure something out so I don't waste alot of money experimenting. IF none of this works, how does anyone get high enough quality prints from customers?
