JW Parker gave a great summary of the color management problems with digital
printing on this forum today. I won't repeat it. From my experience I've
used many settings when printing with Hahnemuhle Water Color Paper on my 5000
psuv, but have recently settled on the following.
Media Profile : Water Color ( Downloaded the media profile for Hahnemuhle
Water Color Paper from HP which shows up in the printer window as Water Color).
ICC Profile: HP Hahnemuhle Water Color UV ( Select this in the Advanced
color management window along with let Photoshop manage color)
Soft Proof: I now use the ICC profile above with rendering intent set to
Relative colorimetric to soft proof images to be printed on Hahnemuhle Water
Color Paper.
Print: Print with Preview > Page Setup > Properties > Layout > Advanced >
Graphic > Image Color Management > ICM Method > ICM Handled by Host System >
OK > Device Options> Max Quality > Printer Color Management > Color Options
> Emulations > No Emulation > deselect Automatic Black replacement >
Rendering Intents > Perceptual > OK > deselect Automatic Pantone Calibration >
OK >
OK > OK > Color Handling > Let Photoshop Determine Colors > Printer Profile >
HP 5000-5500 Water Color UV Best > Rendering Intent > Perceptual > deselect
Black Point Compensation > print.
I know I did my soft proof with Relative Colorimetric rendering intent, but
I've found this soft proof matches my prints printed with Perceptual
rendering intent. better than soft proofing with Perceptual rendering intent.
I've tried many, over the last five years, color/print settings and these
have worked best for me.
Also, my monitor is calibrated at 6500 K because I color match/proof under
6500 K light.
