just a little more info would be helpful. After you instruct the printer to
access the printheads does the carriage move back before you open the window
or after?

Subject: [HPDesignJet_Printers] need some help w/5500

I'm new to this forum, and actually new to printing on large format
printers completely. I don't have a lot of experience in this field,
but am assisting an uncle who owns several convenience stores, has a
Roland Color Camm 600 for vinyl cutting/printing (although the thermal
printhead appears to be broken), and an HP 5500 PS UV.

I am having some issues with the 5500. To start with, when I first
attempted to use it, I discovered the belt assembly was completely
messed up, with the belt twisted underneath the pulley wheel. We have
replaced that successfully, and now are having issues with printheads.
I assume because this machine sat unused for quite some time, the
printheads are clogged. I ordered some replacement heads and cleaning
kits... but when I attempt to change them, the printer assembly wants
to jump back to it's "home" under the right cover. I have followed the
instructions in the manual and on the front message display, but it
doesn't seem to prevent the assembly from wanting to move. Am I
missing something here? Anyone have advice to assist me?

I appreciate your feedback!
Sincerely... Shannon
