Hi Group, I've been using a HP DesignJet 2500 CP (P for Postscript) for many many moons!
I'm thinking Z3100 is the next large format answer for us, but first I am trying to get answers to these initial questions. We do large format photo and fine art giclee printing on all different kinds of media: wide range of papers of varying surfaces, and to a lesser degree we print on canvas, vinyl, and even silk. Have always used UV inks (I know there are terrific gamut limitations with this printer! I've been profiling all these different types of media for years with X-Rite Pulse and cannot live without that. The idea of an integrated color management solution sounds exciting. Looks like you have to buy additional add ons from HP to get CMYK functionality. I may be able to do without that. But I think because I need to have Postscript, I therefor am going to be needing a Postscript RIP. The Z3100 doesn't appear to be a postscript printer and all the major RIP makers so far appear to not have a solution. Comments please. Any suggestions. Seems like the printer while being a 12 ink printer comes with 8 inks (which means I need to buy a number of additional inks just to get get fully functional). Could that be right? What speed is the HP Ethernet print server that comes with this? Wouldn't be gigabit ethernet would it? I could go on and on, but I'll stop now. All help is very much appreciated.
