Question and an idea...

Isn't the paper-on-the-back method tried-and-true archival framing
technique? How about just applying the Printguard and Breathing Color to the
back of the canvas as well?

After many trials when we started doing canvas on a DJ90, we came to
the same conclusion as you, the PP Satin was the best setting. We do
two coatings, the first with a spray of Lyson Printguard, and then a
roll coat with Breathing Color Glamour 2 gloss. Quick and dirty
window tests show a good degree of permanence.

One problem with stretched canvas is that attack by moisture and ozone
can come through the rear, unless some form of protection is used
there too. We haven't completely solved this yet: a paper cover is
too fragile and subject to puncture. Canvas mounted on boards is also
subject to attack from the back from the solvents in the adhesives
used. Any ideas?

Thanks.
