My B&W prints have when shown to ordinary people generated comments  
like "wow that's amazing. Really? That's an inkjet? Really?
Can I have a a print?"

Setting the bar for your own art or product to a very high level is  
of course up to you. Most people who
might buy a print probably don't care.
