You are correct. Some people have higher standards. After seeing some of John's recent work, I understand how he can get $35k for a single print. I still get goose bumps thinking about some of his prints. This is also why I started using a 4x5 camera for both B&W and Digital Color. A 4x5 negative on my scanner @ 300 dpi is like a 65 mgpixel digital capture. A 16x20 print from a 4x5 negative is the same degree of enlargement as a 4x6 drug store print from a 35mm frame.
My hasselblad B&W prints received praise from John in 2004. But the 4x5 prints are in a different class as to tonality and detail. I've been printing on nothing but Ilford MG glossy FB for the last 20 years when Peterson's Photo tested all B&W papers and selected Ilford MG vi glossy as the best fine art paper. So I know that material pretty well. I miss Kodak Technical Pan film!!!!
