Bob..... I used a continuity tester by un-doing each end of the cable and placing my meter leads in each pinhole at each end othe the cable. I left the cable attached to the carriage assembly by the wire ties then moved the carriage slowly back and forth thru it's range to see if maybe there was an unseen break somewhere in the cable. I did that for each of the 36 pins and didn't find anything wrong. I didn't leave it attached at either end because I may have seen continuity from the traces on the circuit boards. Hope this helps.
