After doing a search on this forum for a topic similar to the subject line of
this post, I've
found that others are reporting similar problems back through Mac OSX 10.4.

On opening System>Library>Printers>hp>Utilities> all the maintenance app's are
there,
but no matter which one I open, I always get the Printer Selector Utility.
Then, when I
double click on the 130 nr printer icon, I get an error message from HP's
website: "The HP
Designjet 30/130 series system maintenance utility has exited because it is
unable to
communicate with the printer. Please check the connections to the printer,
check that the
printer is turned on and not printing, then launch HP Designjet 30/130 series
system
maintenance utility again."

I'm currently using Mac 10.5, and after contacting HP support and reporting
that the printer
driver update (v3.0) on their website is older than the driver that came on my
new
Mac Intel Desktop (v4.2.2), the HP rep suggested that I talk to a technician,
and since my
extended service contract had expired, HP would charge me $35. to do so. In
response, I
politely suggested that if HP wasn't going to support its printers because of
their rather
obvious strategy to get me buy a newer model, that I would take my business
back to Epson
and buy the 3800. And that's exactly what I'm going to do! Goodbye HP...
