As I posted a while ago the HP does not track the leading edge for checking the paper loading ..it checks the position of the margins then advances the paper about 10 inches then check the margins ( edges of the paper right and left side) if the postion changes by more than 1/8 inch it will reject the paper.
Unless you know this it will drive you crazy.....make sure you "tease" the paper to make to second position check is the same as the first. But now I have a question... is there a way to advance the paper say 5 to 6 inches after uit is laoded and accepted? The Epson printers I use have a micro advancement button that is not to be found on the 120.
