I still cannot reproduce the hang with my LJ3380.

The "number of pages" is a new feature for xsane. Xsane 0.92 did not
have this feature. Normally I use "batch" for ADF scanning with
scanimage. Can you try ADF scanning with the "batch" setting on in the
Advanced menu.
