Hi, I tried with 0.9.8, 0.9.9 and now with 0.9.10. I tried on SUSE 10 and Ubuntu 5.10. In any case I compiled according to the readme without encountering any problems. I deleted anything of the previous install before doing the next one. Lastly, for printer testing I disabled any firewall rules on both suse and ubuntu
While printing to the laserjet 3390 via ethernet to 192.168.1.3 (the printers ip adress) works like a charm and hp-setup trustfully sets up printerqueue and faxqueue like it is descriped in the manual. Nevertheless when trying to send a fax, I still get: Fax send error (from the hp-sendfax utility) and theses error messages on the console where I started hp-sendfax from: sendfax [ERROR]: Unable to open channel (Unknown internal error). sendfax [ERROR]: Fax send error. sendfax [ERROR]: Error, aborting. in /var/log/messages it looks like this: Apr 5 21:06:09 grey hpiod: unable to connect to port 9220 JetDirectChannel::Open: Connection refused hpfax:/net/HP_LaserJet_3390?ip=192.168.1.3 io/hpiod/jetdir ect.cpp 124 Apr 5 21:06:10 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Unable to open channel (Unknown internal error). Apr 5 21:06:10 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Fax send error. Apr 5 21:06:12 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Error, aborting. Apr 5 21:07:36 grey su: (to root) eroloff on /dev/pts/5 Apr 5 21:09:35 grey hpiod: unable to connect to port 9220 JetDirectChannel::Open: Connection refused hpfax:/net/HP_LaserJet_3390?ip=192.168.1.3 io/hpiod/jetdirect.cpp 124 Apr 5 21:09:36 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Unable to open channel (Unknown internal error). Apr 5 21:09:36 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Fax send error. Apr 5 21:09:38 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Error, aborting. Now given that this printer is described as print/fax/scan ok in the printer compatibility list, what am I making wrong and how can I possibly investigatre this problem in more detail? I searched the mailing list archives and used google, anything to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks and regards Eberhard ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
