Hey Guys... I was testing around with SuSE 10 and a LJ3380 around your issue.
First, I installed HPLIP from these instructions here - http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/index.html and not the readme file. What I noticed for myself off the bat was communication with my JetDirect and the LJ were a little flakey. I couldn't get a config page to print and I even swapped out JD boxes just to make sure. For posterity my first JD box was a 310x and my second was an HP Wireless box. Recycling the LJ's power seemed to fix the network issues. Then I was able to install a networked 3380 using hp-setup to that IP address. At my first fax attempts I recieved some simular errors. But I believe mine were due to sending a filetype to the second fax machine that it was not very happy with. One thing or another lead me to believe that perhaps my fax CUPS printer was not setup correctly so I proceeded with a modify. At first I configured the modify wrong and hp-toolbox was nicely able to tell me I did it wrong...so I re-modded again. This time correctly. And all worked fine from this point, OpenOffice could scan as well as the hp-toolbox. For sanity sake I deleted my CUPS printers and ran hp-setup agian on that same printer. Expecting an error, I was ready to reconfigure things, but everything worked as expected. So in the end I was able to fax from OpenOffice and the hp-toolbox, what I'd maybe suggest, though it seems simple, 1. Power cycle your printers...just in case. 2. Delete your CUPS printers and try again. Are you printing the document from the application to the fax queue? Like, File -> print and choosing fax? Or are you using the hp-toolbox and clicking the fax button? Please let me know if you are successful with one but not the other or both fail. So far I actually only tried with the hp-toolbox. But a minute ago, I also tried from OpenOffice, choosing the fax printer queue and subsequently selecting one fax recipient and press on "send fax" The Fax failed with "fax send error" from the toolbox and the exact same entries in /var/log/messages. Thanks for your help and kind regards Eberhard On Thu, 06 Apr 2006 08:09:28 -0700 Cory Meisch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Eberhard, > How are you sending the fax to the printer?
