I've been trying without success to get the pc send fax feature working with
hplip. first with version 0.9.9, and now with 0.9.10, which I installed using
apt today, (I'm running debian sid). I configured my hp officejet 7310xi with
the cups interface as a network printer. I can print and scan from both
computers on my small home network, pc faxing just doesn't work.

hp-setup tells me I have print and fax queues set up for the device.

I'd be grateful if someone could give me some troubleshooting tips--commands
that might reveal errors, e.g.

Below is a summary of my attempts to solve this, along with suggestions I
received from Don Welch and Aaron Albright:

Yes, I chose a recipient.

I'm not referring to KDE's fax tool. I choose a printer, in my case it's
called newofficjet_fax (hpfax:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.15.100)
but when I select it to send a fax nothing happens--the file just stays in a
queue.

lpstat -v gives me this:
$ lpstat -v
device for newofficejet: hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.15.100
device for newofficjet_fax: hpfax:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.15.100

No, I used CUPS, and followed these instructions since my printer is connected
to my home network: http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/step4/cups/net.html
