Hi, I bought a HP Deskjet 6980 and it is connected through ethernet to a switch. My computer running under GNU/Linux Debian testing is also connected to the switch. The CUPS version: 1.1.23 The HPLIP version: 0.9.10
I added the printer in the CUPS application as described in the hplip documentation. Note: I remarked in the "Device" section the presence of the following items "hp no_device_found" and "hpfax no_device_found" just below the "AppSocket/HP JetDirect" one. Once the printer added, when I send it a test page, the job in the CUPS interface is marked as aborted and I have the following message in the /var/log/cups/error_log: I [31/May/2006:22:21:26 +0200] Started "/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/printers.cgi" (pid=29512) I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Adding start banner page "none" to job 487. I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Adding end banner page "none" to job 487. I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Job 487 queued on 'gaspard' by 'root'. I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 29514) for job 487. I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 29515) for job 487. I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp (PID 29516) for job 487. E [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] PID 29515 stopped with status 22! I [31/May/2006:22:21:28 +0200] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more. Another point: when I run the /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp command, I have the following output: direct hp:/no_device_found "Unknown" "hp no_device_found" Have you any suggestions to solve my problem?
