Hmmm... OK, let's start back a ways... it appears that hp-setup can't 
connect to the printer, and that's why its presenting the list of 
locally connected ones. So, let's do two things:

1. ping 192.168.1.254

2. Run hp-setup in debug mode: $ sudo hp-setup -g 192.168.1.254

If #1 works OK, then do #2 and post the results (only until the printer 
list shows). If #1 doesn't work, then there is some other connectivity 
problem - Are you certain that libnetsnmp is installed? Could you run 
hp-check?
