this is kubuntu dapper, quite freshly installed and with only minor
individual configuration by me

The version of the hplip package is 0.9.7-4ubuntu1

What do you think about the fact that hplip sees a connection attempt
from 192.168.0.1 instead of from 127.0.0.1? Is this a bug in the
library local applications use to connect to hplip?
