If possible please go through the steps provided on our website for installing hplip and configuring your printer.

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/index.html

and if your distro is supported please use the installer.

Thanks!

Aaron, I re-installed hplip hplip-data and installed linuxprinting.org-ppds and foomatics-filters and then via Cups I add my printer again but after that I get this message:
    Showing 1 of 1 printer.
Sort Descending HP_PSC "Filter "foomatic-rip" for printer "HP_PSC" not available: No such file or directory"
   Description: Multifunction
Location: Home
Make and Model: HP PSC 1400 Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) - HPLIP 1.6.7
Printer State: stopped, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: usb://HP/PSC%201400%20series?serial=BR6533G2GV07M

and when I send a page it doesn't respond....it tells me that filter foomatic-rip is not available as you can see...what could be the problem ???

Really thanks

Alejandro

Can you go here:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/troubleshooting/printing.html

Issue 2, and configure cups for debug mode.

As well then run

tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log
and
tail -f /var/log/messages

try and print and post the two logs.

Also go into cups (http://localhost:631) and print a test page from cups and let me know if that works okay.

Thanks!

Dear all, I'm using the hplip DRIVER in my Debian Etch connected to a HP PSC 1410. A pair of days ago, when I wanto to print from Xpdf, Kwrite or Kedit I can't do that....just can print from Kword, Kspread and other Office packages. The error message is this:

Connection to CUPS server failed.
Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running.
Error: localhost: read failed (15).

And I have this packages installed

cupsys 1.2.4-2+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server
cupsys-bsd 1.2.4-2+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD comman cupsys-client 1.2.4-2+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - client pro cupsys-common 1.2.4-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - common fil
cupsys-driver- 5.0.0-2 printer drivers for CUPS
cupsys-driver- 5.0.0-2 printer drivers for CUPS

I run "apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade" once a week and it's possible that cupsys was upgraded and ask you if this could be the problem, in other words this cupsys version is bad ???

Thanks a lot,

Alejandro
