If you are trying to use HPLIP, you cannot use HPOJ at the same time - they
are not compatible.
HPOJ does not support faxing. "mlcd" is part of HPOJ. If you are running
this, HPLIP will not work. HPOJ is an older version of HPLIP that is no
longer supported.
Please uninstall HPOJ and re-install HPLIP. Make sure HPOJ is not running
when you try to use HPLIP.

I think, hplip need a new file for mlc
with a new hp-setup including mlc for fax
