I forgot to say that I upgraded hplip too. Slackware 11.0 contains hplip 1.6.9 and Slackware 12.0 contains hplip 1.7.4a. I also found out that scanning works so it seems like a bug in hplip. That's unfortunate :-( I'll try newest version. Have a nice day.
