Maybe im wrong, but i thought that my config file was right. I am copying a
snipplet of my config file into this mail, the configuration is like this:

locale: de_DE
lang_dir: /usr/local/htdig/common/german
bad_word_list: /usr/local/htdig/common/german/bad_words
endings_affix_file: /usr/local/htdig/common/german/german.aff
endings_dictionary: /usr/local/htdig/common/german/german.0
endings_root2word_db: /usr/local/htdig/common/german/root2word.db
endings_word2root_db: /usr/local/htdig/common/german/word2root.db

You can surely assume that /usr/local/htdig is the installtion directory, so
everythink should be set up correctly. The locals are installed in
/usr/share/locale and de_DE ist among them.

Maybe its another problem altogether, since the special chars are displayed in the
excerpt of the matches.

Thanks,
