Based on what I've seen on this list in the past several months, some users
have successfully gotten htdig to run under Cygwin on Windows. For some it
was pretty straightforward, and for others it was a nightmare. Many have
given up. In general, it seems older versions of Cygwin did a better job
of supporting htdig, so you may want to try one of those rather than a
recent release. You can consider the java version of htdig dead in the
water. There was some preliminary work on it done a few years ago, but
it never continued.
