Can't you build the Berkely DB Perl module against the Berkeley DB1
library that comes with htdig 3.1.5?

Well, if you can't build a compatible Berkely DB Perl module, then it
seems your only option is to copy the DB1 database and run db3_upgrade
on the copy, so you still have the original for htdig & htsearch.
