Hmm, the way I read that, you seem to be saying the correct behaviour is to ignore alt text. I suspect, though, that you mean the opposite. It all depends on what we call the new attribute. If we call it "ignore_alt_text" or something like that, I think it should be false by default, so that normally alt text is not ignored. As Malcolm also pointed out, sometime the problem isn't really the alt text itself, but just the fact that certain buttons or links shouldn't be indexed. That seems to be the case for Emil, given his last follow-up post. Using <noindex> tags, or <!--htdig_noindex--> tags as Malcolm suggested, might be the more appropriate solution in this case. 3.1.6 also supports a <noindex follow> tag to temporarily turn off indexing but still allow harvesting of links. -- Gilles R.
