Thanks, found it.  Syslog is dumping the htsearch records into 
/var/log/messages.  My knowledge of syslog is a bit creaky (at best).  
If I add the following line into /etc/syslog.conf, will it create a 
special file for htsearch records at the info log level?

htsearch.info                   /var/log/htsearch_log

Also, anyone know of log processing software I could use on htsearch 
logs?
