Okay.. thankx.. allways better to know for sure.. >> But when i try to ping the server like www.aesir.nl:80 returns an >> error. Could this be my problem? And if so what can i do about it? > > You can't ping a particular port number, only a host. Pings use ICMP > protocol, not TCP, so even if a host responds to pings it doesn't mean > it will respond to TCP requests on all ports. Again, thank you for clearing this up... nice too learn new things.. :-) > Are you sure your HTTP > server was running on www.aesir.nl when you ran htdig? Can you run > lynx or some other web browser right on the machine on which you run > htdig, to access any URL you have listed in start_url? yes, i'm absolutely sure it is up and running. The strangest thing is, when i start rundig for the first time after compiling and installation (and configuration of course) a couple of files are created. When i try this afterwards with -a or any other switch it gives this error. I looked into the conf file and looked again but i couldn't find anything wrong. Grtz..
