howdy - I fixed the problem by removing the truant wait.h in
ExternalParser.cc to point to one thing (instead of being surrounded by
HAVE_SYS_WAIT) and it built just fine!

After doing all this - I changed ~/htdig/conf/htdig.conf to have start_url
to be www.google.com.

When I do the rundig command, I get:
/opt/www/htdig/db/htdig4212.pdf: Could not repair file.
PDF::parse: cannot open acroread output from
http://www.google.com/appliance/pdf/google_gsa_datasheet.pdf


acroread on my box is within /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin has a symbolic
link to the copy in /usr/bin (in case this is relevant).

This is startup latency - I hope I ask less questions once i get the basic
examples to run.
