Hi Brian, What scripting languages are available on your server? I know for definite you could create a PHP script to work with NNTP via the IMAP module (http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.imap.php, http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.imap-open.php). However, the IMAP module may need compiling into PHP (on a *nix system), which is a little bit of extra work to achieve. It's easier on a Windows system, as you just need to configure the php.ini file.
>From there, however, you should be able to write a PHP script to generate the pages that you want. However, it might be easier installing mailman. :)~ Regards, Ru -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brian McGroarty Sent: 06 May 2004 22:24 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [htdig] Newsgroup searchability I'm setting up htdig to index our internal development site, which includes some static pages, a twiki (wiki), and newsgroups. Indexing the static pages and twiki should be no-brainers. I wonder if anyone has a clever way to get the twiki to see newsgroups, though. I was thinking of installing mailman (a mailing list server with web-based list archives) and adding a mail<->news gateway to bridge nntp and http, but that seems to be a very roundabout way of doing this. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Sleepycat Software Learn developer strategies Cisco, Motorola, Ericsson & Lucent use to deliver higher performing products faster, at low TCO. http://www.sleepycat.com/telcomwpreg.php?From=osdnemail3 _______________________________________________ ht://Dig general mailing list: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ht://Dig FAQ: http://htdig.sourceforge.net/FAQ.html List information (subscribe/unsubscribe, etc.) https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/htdig-general -- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
