Thai beauty contest has a hidden difference
PATTAYA, Thailand -- It definitely looks like a typical beauty contest. Backstage, nervous contestants squeeze into their dresses to compete for the crown. Lipstick and eyeliner are applied with careful precision. Meanwhile, an eager audience waits patiently for the event to get underway.
But there's more to Miss Tiffany's Universe 2000 in Pattaya, Thailand, than meets the eye; The contestants had to be men at birth.

MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Jesus on canvas

NEW YORK -- Righteous, blasphemous, androgynous. Those are just a few of the words describing the artworks entered into the "Jesus 2000" contest.
The contest, sponsored by the National Catholic Reporter, drew more than 1,600 entries. Thirty-seven of them are touring the United States -- pieces that include images of Jesus as a homeless man, a death-row inmate and a TV news anchor.
