Hair replacement company settles fraud charges
NEWARK, New Jersey -- A hair replacement company that claimed to have a system that was "the secret of the rich and famous" agreed to pay $300,000 to settle claims it cheated its customers.
United Micro Systems, Inc. ran ads claiming its procedure permanently attached hair to the scalp using an "FDA-approved, medical grade interfusion system." However, more than 200 customers said their new hair fell out a few days after treatment. According to a complaint filed in Superior Court, the hair had actually been glued to the scalps of customers.

It's OK to apologize in California
SACRAMENTO -- You can now say you're "sorry" in California without it being interpreted as an admission of guilt.
The governor signed a law protecting "benevolent gestures of sympathy" from court interpretation of guilt. The bill was aimed at lawyers who counsel their clients to avoid apologies at all costs.
